CASTELLON GRAVEL RACE
Castellón Gravel Race is a sporting project with the aim of promoting this new cycling modality that is booming in the province of Castellón and the Valencian Community, in order to become a reference at a national and international level.
From the heart of the province in Llucena, surrounded by mountains, this international category event linked to the International Cycling Union and the Spanish Gravel Cup is created.
After a successful first edition, with the victory of Alejandro Valverde and Sofía Rodríguez, Castellón Gravel Race makes the leap to the top category and will be the first UCI Gravel World Series of the 2025 season. The race, which will be held on February 15, 2025, will feature hundreds of participants from all over Europe.
LLUCENA
Llucena will host the Castellón Gravel Race, offering a unique sporting venue surrounded by mountains and riverbeds in the region of l'Alcalatén in the interior of the province of Castellón. The race will cover the entire municipal area, visiting every corner of the town. Llucena is an ideal place for cycling, and especially for gravel cycling. It has a beautiful historic centre with views of the surrounding mountains.
SAMUEL SANCHEZ
Samu Sánchez, a professional cyclist for 18 seasons, will be the ambassador of the Castellón Gravel Race. His most notable triumph was the Olympic gold at the 2008 Olympic Games. He also achieved important victories such as 1 stage in the Tour de France plus the mountain jersey and a final podium, 5 stages in the Vuelta, 8 stages in the Itzulia plus the general or the general of the Vuelta a Burgos. The Asturian has entered gravel where his most notable result is his victory in the Master 40 World Championship in 2023.
