The Castellón Gravel Race has started in style with more than 200 participants in its different categories. Alejandro Valverde has won with authority in the men's race while Sofía Rodíguez has done the same in the women's race.
The activity of the Castellón Gravel Race It started yesterday with its official presentation, where great figures of this sport such as Alejandro Valverde, Samuel Sanchez, Lucia Gonzalez either Felipe Orts They gave their support to this recently created race, showing great enthusiasm for being present at the event.
This morning began in the town of Llucena the Castellón Gravel Race with a large turnout of the public at the event. At 9:00 the official ribbon cutting took place with Jose Cabedo, organizer of the test; David Momferrer, mayor of Llucena; Quique Gutierrez, president of the Valencian Cycling Federation and Juan Luis Irigoyen, delegate of the Spanish Cycling Federation.

With the starting gun fired, the runners faced a spectacular 94-kilometre route with more than 2,500 metres of accumulated gradient along spectacular trails in the vicinity of the Castellón town. In the first stages of the race Alejandro Valverde, with a trademark change of pace, managed to open a gap over his pursuers along with Axel Badia.

Finally, the first runner to cross the finish line was Alejandro Valverde After a brilliant performance and winning solo thanks to an attack at kilometer 10 of the race, marking a time of 3'07".
